Privacy Policy — Calcastat

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Calcastat ("we," "us," "our"), a product of 8401 Technologies, LLC, collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Calcastat website and quiz application (the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account information: your email address and first name, provided when you create an account.
Payment information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed directly by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not receive or store your full card number — only a Stripe customer/subscription reference used to manage your billing.
Usage data: which quiz questions you answer, your selected language and difficulty preferences, and general interaction with the Service.
Local device storage: we use your browser's local storage to remember preferences like your selected language, so you don't have to reset them on every visit.

3. How We Use Your Information

To create and maintain your account and authenticate you when you sign in.
To process subscription payments and manage your billing status.
To determine which quiz content you have access to based on your subscription.
To communicate with you about your account, such as confirming your email address.
To improve and maintain the Service.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party providers to operate Calcastat. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data on our behalf:

Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
Stripe — subscription billing and payment processing.
Netlify — website and application hosting.
Google AdSense — displays advertising to non-subscribed users. See the Advertising section below.

5. Advertising

Easy-level questions are free to everyone, supported in part by advertising served through Google AdSense. If you have an active subscription — to a single sport or the full bundle — you will not see ads anywhere in Calcastat.

For users who are shown ads, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads and measure their performance. Because Calcastat may be used by children, we have configured our advertising to receive child-directed treatment, which disables personalized advertising and limits the data collected for advertising purposes.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where we're required to retain certain records (such as billing history) for legal or accounting purposes.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain uses of it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below.

8. Children's Privacy

Calcastat is an educational quiz product that may appeal to younger users, but accounts and subscriptions are intended to be created and managed by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without parental consent. As noted above, advertising shown to non-subscribed users is configured for child-directed treatment, which disables personalized ads. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us so we can address it.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including access controls on our database and encrypted connections between your browser and our services. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
